This was an amazing week-long trip to Ghost Ranch located about 60 miles from Santa Fe in Abiquiu, New Mexico. If you've never been to Ghost Ranch, please take a few minutes to check out their website: http://www.ghostranch.org/. It's an incredible place to rejuvenate the spirit and just relax. You might recognize the mountains as those seen in Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. She spent the last half of her life at Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu. But if you're inclined to take a class for a week or sometimes two weeks, there's something of interest for everyone with subjects like Tai Chi, Meditation, Watercolor, Writing and Hiking and so much more! This was my first time to take a class although I've been to Ghost Ranch many times before just to take a day hike, and to check out their small Paleontology museum. Here's a few pictures of Ghost Ranch and surrounding scenery.
The class was a week of hiking adventures led by Dr. Martha Yates. The class was officially called "Hiking to Ancient Sites and Ancient Waters". The ancient sites were those that include ancient Indian petroglyphs. I will share some photos of some of these sites with you here. Ancient waters included a day at the Ojo Caliente day spa not far from Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is the description of the spa from their website: http://ojospa.com/index.php?gclid=CLCfmP2V0rICFShxQgodVxcAAQ
"INTO TIMELESS WATERS
Deemed sacred by indigenous Native Americans of Northern New Mexico, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs has been a gathering place and a source of healing for hundreds, even thousands of years. Come retreat to our secluded refuge. Relax with a massage and our signature Milagro Wrap. Rejuvenate in our legendary waters."
Without a doubt the highlight of the five-day trip was a visit to Chaco Canyon, something none of us expected although I was secretly hoping I would somehow find my way there again. It had been almost twenty years since I had seen this amazing ancient puebloan ceremonial site used 900-1150 A.D. Some pictures of this incredible site about 20 miles off the main highway down a wash-board road.
